Does HRT also stop hair loss?

Hi, I was born transsexual (male bits) and I used to take Finisterine (Propecia) for hair loss about 2 years prior to starting HRT , then later a new doctor said to 'try' not taking the Finisteride and 'see how you go' well I think it might be still thinning (several months later), as it feels thin on top and LOTS of hair comes out when I brush it.

So my question is: Do you think I need to stay on the hair-loss medication finisteride? -I'm allowed to if I want.Does HRT also stop hair loss?
As long as you still have testicles you will need to keep taking propecia as they will still be producing some male hormone which will be turning into the chemical DHT which causes male pattern hair loss;Does HRT also stop hair loss?
I agree with Rata. I used Propecia for almost 4 years while I was pre-op. If you have ANY hair issue I would advise you to use Propecia until you have SRS.

And just for info:

Finasteride (aka Propecia, Finpecia etc) blocks 1 kind of DHT.

Dutasteride (aka Avodart, Dutas etc) blocks both kinds of DHT. However, Avodart is kind of pricey.
Never tried it, but from what you say here. It doesn't sound like it is working. I would stop using it. Your hair loss, could be caused by stress. I am surprise your Doctor, didn't tell you that. Stop stressing so much, and use a good hair conditioner. Drink some water. Eat Healthy, and get at least 7 hours of sleep at night.
